The city was the ruling residence for king Akhenaton when he made the great change in cult and even move the capital from Luxor to Amarna. Amarna witnessed the cult of Aten which could be easily distinguished from the wall scenes of the tombs. Then, proceed to Beni Hassan to enjoy your eyes with the best scenes ever for the tombs of the governors of the region with the vivid tombs of the oldest ever sports scenes which date back to the Middle Kingdom.
